I know the point of your first item is to give your subs something unique and special, but as one of those subs: you should take that first item and give it the best/biggest/broadest treatment you can. Complicating the narrative about evangelicals *by* evangelicals will always be a vital need when polarization intensifies - which, as you said, we’re back!

Thanks, Austin! I do sometimes treat it as a first draft of something I want to write more formally elsewhere, and this may be one of those. I’ll be sure to share it here if that happens!

Agree with Austin, Bonnie! The first item is brilliant, and so needed. Reminded me of John Fea's similarly-themed piece at The Atlantic ... https://www.theatlantic.com/ideas/archive/2024/02/evangelicals-christianity-james-dobson/677362/

....

And please write more on the epistemic disarray out there among us evangelicals. The 2020 election, case in point. How are we to be faithful to the 9th Commandment while sharing falsehoods, at worst, and dubiousness, at best? Alas, an evangelical relative of mine read a piece I did for Fea's CURRENT website on evangelicals, journalism, and truth.....and told my wife that he thought that all the "truths" I wrote of were.....lies. Ugh.

Keep up the great work. Rob Vaughn

Thanks, Rob, and wow, that's a tough story about your relative. I feel fortunate that even relatives with major political and religious differences have been able to see past that stuff to at least give my work a fair reading (if indeed they read it).

I must admit that after a flurry of paid subscriptions last year, you and Suderman have the only Substacks that made the renewal cut.

belatedly catching up here, but thank you! I think on a weekly basis that I need to re-up my Suderman sub.
